FAQ's

Does the furniture require assembly?

Yes. Even our fully assembled Foldii needs fixing to the wall. We’ve designed our products to be as easy to assemble as possible. Most come complete and ready to use, however, where DIY is required, we’ve made it a cinch. e.g. our desks require that each leg is screwed on to the desktop. All you need is a screwdriver.

 

What is Plywood?

Plywood is a man-made wood. It’s an engineered composite material made up of layers of real wood, glued together at 90-degree angles. This process makes it hardwearing, consistent and durable. We use either high grade FSC certified Birch or Oak plywood. The top layer of the wood is called a veneer. This gives the wood its natural look.

 

How can I keep my furniture looking its best?

All of our products are hand finished with natural oil to bring out the natural shine of the wood. Wax oil makes the surface resistant to dirt and spills. Simply wipe down with a damp cloth. 

Alternatively, we recommend Osmo spray. It’s a wonderful raw oil which polishes to a glorious shine. 

Over time, you may wish to refresh the look of your Twelve Design. A light sand with a fine grade sandpaper is sufficient to remove all blemishes. When you’re happy with the sanding, dust down with a cloth and apply a coat of Osmo.  

If you plan to make a refresh, contact us and we’ll supply the sandpaper and oil for a small fee to cover the postage. 

 

How long will my order take?

Twelve Designs are produced in small batches. This means that we usually ship two to eight weeks from the date of order. Each product has its unique lead time. These are explained on the item listing. 

For custom work and bespoke designs, we work with you to agree timescales at the time of commission. We strive to maintain regular updates throughout the process. 

 

Do you accept returns?

Yes and no. If it’s an ‘off-the-shelf’ design in a standard size, then yes, it’s possible to return it. However, before you make your final decision we’d love understand more about the situation - just give us a call.  

If you still decide you don’t love your purchase, we accept returns on any standard items within 14 days of purchase. Hang on to the original packaging - you’ll need it to make the return.

As you’d expect with a cut to fit or personalised product, we do not offer returns. As the saying goes, 'measure twice, cut once'. 

 

Do you do bespoke projects?

Yes. As an independent design studio, we love to work on exciting new projects. We’re makers at heart so if there’s a something special you’d love for your home, drop us a line. We’d love chat through your ideas. 

Our initial 30-minute consultation is free of charge. Just have your idea sketched out with roughly measured sizes to hand when you make the call. That way we make certain we’re having a structured conversation. 

 

Can you make custom sizes?

Yes. We specialise in cut to fit designs that are tailored to work in any size cubby hole, nook or cranny. Whether it’s a super compact desk or an extra-large bureau, we customise many of our designs. 

Simply call our studio with your dimensions to see what’s possible. 

What if my product arrives damaged?

Hang on to the original packaging and contact us immediately. Take some photographs of the damage and send them to +TWELVEWHATSAPP.

We’ll contact you to arrange a replacement and return of the damaged item.

 

Do you have a shop/showroom?

We’re an online business but if you feel the call to visit our studio, we’re happy to arrange a date for you. We have a small selection of our products in use at the studio.

Can I collect my order?

Yes. Simply tell us when you’d like to collect you piece and we’ll make certain it’s ready for you. We’re open Monday - Saturday at the studio for collections. 

However, deliveries are usually the quickest way to receive your items. Our nationwide shipping issues fast, free and delivered to your door.
